    Product Review: Dry Shampoo

We are back to beauty this week with DRY SHAMPOO

As a woman I am prone to not being able to choose just one. So this week I am reviewing my two favorites one of them is a recent accidental find & the other I've had a long, wonderful relationship with & it has never let me down.

    So lets begin!

    First up...

    Detox Dry Shampoo from Drybar

This was an accidental find for me. I bought the Glitz & Glam bag from Sephora & this just happened to be one of the goodies in it. So of course I'm going to try it & I loved it! It is the number 1 dry shampoo I have found. (Unfortunately moving our next one from the number one spot to runner up.)

It doesn't come out too chalky, adds the perfect amount of texture & volume without mattifying your hair color.

You can find the full size Detox Dry Shampoo at any Drybar location. If you don't have one near you (like we don't here in Hampton Roads) then you can find the travel size or full size at any Sephora or online! This Product runs in the $20 range per bottle.

My review of Detox Dry Shampoo from Drybar on a scale of 1-10

    I give it a 10!

    Next up....

    Paul Mitchell Dry Wash

This dry Shampoo is also fiercely amazing. The only downside to this dry shampoo is that I feel like after using a dry shampoo my roots shouldn't still look shiny.... Which they usually do after using this. Other than that, this one is just as great as the other! You can find Paul Mitchell Dry Wash at any Paul Mitchell Focus Salon or online! This product runs between 15 & 20 dollars a bottle.

My review of Paul Mitchell Dry Wash on a scale of 1-10

    I give it a 9!

Now enjoy these 7 surprising ways to use your dry shampoo!

    1. Dry Shampoo helps boost volume. Use it on your roots as intended then, flip your head upside down and spray all over to help boost all around volume.
    2. Dry Shampoo helps lock in backcombing (teasing). When creating an up style or a volumous style, spray some dry shampoo on the section before back combing, it adds texture and volume & helps keep the back comb in place.
    3. Dry Shampoo helps keep bobby pins in place. Spray down your bobby pins before applying to your up style to keep them in place.
    4. Dry Shampoo is your fringes new best friend. Did you go for some fierce bangs this fall? Spray the dry shampoo underneath your bangs to keep them from sticking to the oil on your forehead. It also keeps your bangs together nicely. You don't have to spray all over your bangs, just underneath.
    5. Dry Shampoo helps suck up excess product. Did you use too much argon oil or Super Skinny Serum? Spray your hair all over along with your roots to suck up some of that excess product.
    6. Dry Shampoo can help blondes conceal their roots. Blondes, go for a powder dry shampoo, this will help conceal your dark roots until your next color appointment.
    7. Dry Shampoo can reverse your look. If you went for a slicked back, straight look yesterday & want a more tousled, windblown look today. Spray your hair down with some dry shampoo. It does exactly what #5 says & sucks up some of the shine & oil from yesterdays products.

  • PRODUCT REVIEW: Sony A5000 mirrorless camera.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Sony A5000 mirrorless camera.

DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A PHOTOGRAPHER.

Now that we've got that out of the way.....

Let me tell you about this awesome thing called the Sony a5000 mirrorless camera.

    Key Points:

    1. 180 degree flip up LCD screen. (perfect for selfies)
    2. Wi-Fi connectivity to smartphones. (send pictures right from your camera to your phone. Perfect for social media sharing.)
    3. Built in Pop-up flash.
    4. Playmemories camera apps. (see what someone in the other room is filming/shooting on your smartphone via the remote embedded app. Also saves directly to your phone.)
    5. Full HD 1080/60i/24p video.
    6. Interchangeable lenses.
    7. Comes in black or white.

This camera has so many amazing features that Im still learning how & when to use them all. It has a scene selection for shooting in different environments such as: Sports Action, Anti Motion Blur, Macro, Nighttime Portrait, Low Light Portraits & soooo much more. It has 2 different flash settings, aperture settings & shutter settings for the more advanced camera users.

    What comes in the box:

    1. Lens cap
    2. Rechargeable battery
    3. Shoulder strap
    4. Micro USB
    5. SELP1650 Lens
    6. AC-UB10 AC charger (in-camera charging via USB)
    7. Body Cap

I purchased my camera from Best Buy...you can find it here. The awesome thing about Best Buy is that they do price compare so in my case, B&H Photo had a bundle deal for a camera bag (& its a nice Sony bag), lens cleaning kit & 8GB memory card for free with the purchase of the camera. SCORE!!!

I also ordered a macro ring light (for all the hair photos, selfies & videos Ill be making) lens filters, & a fisheye lens. The fisheye is a neat way to get fun creative images but, make sure you order a Sony product or one where reviewers confirm it fits the a5000. Mine does not fit & is poor quality. But, I do LOVE my macro ring light, you can find it here.

Wether you just need a camera to capture family moments, your travels, or in my case to capture clearer, better quality images of my work. This is great for any & every occasion.

So naturally I went out this weekend to test it out in a more fun environment & take pictures of a bachlorette party & The Cody Austin Band at the new Virginia Beach Eagles Nest. I also used it at a few weddings Ive done. Below are the pictures I took for the blog from the weekend.

Scale of 1-10 on this camera 10!!!

    Price point: $$$$

For everyone i met on Saturday night....ENJOY YOUR PHOTOS!

  • PRODUCT REVIEW: Fave 4 Hairsprays

    PRODUCT REVIEW: Fave 4 Hairsprays

Ok, for those of you who know me......or know anything about my passion for wedding hair, you know that I am a HAIRSPRAY.JUNKIE. So I am always looking for the new & unknown in the hairspray world. I try new brands as they come out. Some I love, some I hate. So when I saw the Fave 4 four pack. I had to try them out.

I wont lie, I was highly disappointed. I had read other reviews on them raving about how amazing they were & how great it was that they came out in four different "flavors". Well, ummm...No. Just No.

Theres four hairsprays so that means four separate reviews also since heat & hairspray go hand in hand, I will be including a "Heat Protectant Ranking" as well.

    MY REVIEW

First up is the Texture Takeover from Fave 4.

Fave for dry, texturized hold, all-over volume, and weightless lift.

This is for that teased up, messy, beach wave kind of look. But, make no mistake, you wont get that extra "OOMPH" that this spray promises. What is this good for? Spraying before curling. It will give your curls that piecey textured, bohemian look. Not so good for volume, it's too heavy. It has a mild hold.

Scale of 1-10 for Texture Takeover. I'd give this spray a 5.  Heat Protectant ranking is a 3.

Second, we have the Workable Wear from Fave 4.

Fave for brushable hold, reworkable styles, braiding, twisting, & teasing

Out of the four, I have to say this is my FAVE (haha see what I did there??) This one is GREAT for my every day work as well as building an amazing formal style for a bride. Its not too sticky, plays well with heat & also has enough hold to hold the curls Im working with. This is also great for quick every day styles such as top knots & braids. This spray has a mild hold-medium hold.

Scale of 1-10 for the Workable Wear, Id give this spray a 7. Heat Protectant ranks a 8.

Third, we have Style Stay from Fave 4.

    Fave for up-dos, side-sweeps, and stay-put braids

This one has all the promises of an amazing hair spray. But, its not. It sucks. I hate it. I have never thrown out a full bottle of hairspray before....but I guess there are exceptions to everything. It says its fave for up-dos. NO. Up-dos involve heat. If you put hear anywhere near this spray it will instantly turn white & flake. Do I feel like its cute to walk around looking like I have dandruff? NO & you shouldn't either. Side sweeps? Nope. After 30 Mins in any kind of humidity this spray gives up & goes running. Leaving.....yes....flakes. If you see this hairspray...just say NO. This spray has a firm hold.

Scale of 1-10 for the Style Stay Id say -1. Heat Protectant ranks a -1.

Last, but not least we have Flex Reflect from fave 4.

Fave for long, movable layers, bobs, curls, waves

This is my second FAVE in the bunch. This spray is perfect for flat ironing, building up-dos & every day styling. It also has a touch of shine to it which I adore. <3 This spray is not sticky & is plays well with heat. This spray has a medium hold.

Scale of 1-10 for Flex Reflect 9. Heat Protectant ranks 8.

I guess 2 out of 4 isn't horrible. But, for the RAVE reviews that these sprays got I feel they were highly OVER RATED. I MIGHT invest in the Flex Reflect & Workable Wear again but, I feel like my money would be better spent on a spray I know & trust.

Have you used Fave 4 sprays before? What did you think?

Check in next Friday for my review on Makeup Forever's newly formulated eyeshadow!
